Myrie Bell

Myrie Bell can claim nearly every corner of the South. Her story begins in the beautiful city of Shreveport, Louisiana, where she was born. After spending her early years in rural Alabama and then Texas, she moved around the country a while before eventually returning to the South she loves. She settled in San Antonio, Texas, with her husband, three sons, four dogs, and two cats. From there, Myrie passionately pins about fashion, food, gardening, and—of course—her fur babies.

Crowd-Pleasers

My kids are my pride and joy, but we often butt heads on what they can wear. Thankfully, Southern Marsh Youth Tees please everyone. The available options—from fun colors to cool motifs—seem endless. And since my youngest son has a bit of trouble with allergies, the 100-percent cotton means that I’m free to use a special detergent without having to worry about ruining the shirt. My kids and I just love them—and so will you!

Bold is Beautiful

If you’re looking for a statement piece, check out the bold yet sophisticated jewelry by Kendra Scott. Her jewelry line features high-quality and oh so fashionable baubles, from chandelier earrings to bib necklaces. You can shop in Kendra Scott Stores throughout Texas or at Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, and Neiman Marcus, but I prefer the Kendra Scott Web site. It features a Color Bar option that allows you to customize her designs with the exact stones and colors you want for that one-of- a-kind piece. Mix and match—and don’t [... more]

Bringing Preppy Back

Buying clothes for three boys and a husband, I get lots of feedback on what I purchase. Well, the reviews are in, and Criquet’s Long Sleeve Players Shirt is a winner. Made of lightweight, organic-cotton fabric, it can be worn alone or over another shirt. The shirt also offers great flexibility in terms of both style and movement, a very important quality when it comes to outdoor activities such as golf and Frisbee football. And while winning isn’t everything, looking the part sure counts for a lot!

Have Bag, Will Travel

I rarely go anywhere without a backpack—for me, it’s a way of life. One of my favorite bags, Billy Reid’s Distressed Backpack, has seen me through some tough times over the years. Unlike many other packs I’ve tried, this one features comfortable shoulder straps that don’t stain my clothes, even in the hottest environment. Handmade in Tennessee of ultra-soft sheepskin, the bag looks vintage and pretty much goes with whatever I wear, always a huge plus.

Cuff Love

I must confess: I have a weakness for beautiful accessories with a bit of flash to them. So obviously, I couldn’t resist Princess and Butch’s artisan silk bracelets and leather cuffs. And I have to tell you, they’re far prettier than any photograph could reveal! When I showed up to a recent get-together sporting a couple of these beauties on my wrist, my friends couldn’t stop raving about them, definitely making this purchase a worthwhile endeavor.

Kickin’ It In Style

I bought these Peter Nappi Sofia boots because I saw a friend wearing them and decided I had to have them. I’ve never been happier with a purchase! The tall, lace-up boots feel so luxurious—real leather has a certain texture you simply cannot match with a synthetic material. And the burnished brown color works well with so many of my outfits. Even more important, after a long day, my feet feel great, which makes these boots worth their fairly hefty price ($750).             [... more]

You “Can” Have It All

When we slip on our high heels, let’s face it, we cringe a little, knowing that by the end of the day our feet are gonna throb and ache. Is a stylish yet comfortable pair of heels too much to ask? Diana E. Kelly doesn’t think so. The Florida-based shoe company designs each shoe with the help of a podiatrist so it fits comfortably while also looking great! My favorite pair, the very feminine Elizabeth, is just the right height. It comes in a shimmery leather adorned [... more]

Style Is In the Bag

Anyone who knows me knows I love purses, so you can imagine how excited I was to discover Cinda B, an Atlanta-based company devoted solely to bags. The brand offers every bag imaginable (from classic purses and totes to “techcessory” pouches and passport covers). And each design comes in a multitude of stylish prints and solids. In fact, there are so many choices that it’s nearly impossible to pick just one. But pick, I did! After much deliberation, I finally decided on the Classic Handbag, a lightweight, [... more]

Bootie-Licious!

If your passion is sexy shoes, then get ready to fall in love. The Morgan Bark Suede Bootie by Elaine Turner perfectly pairs glamour with spunk. The ultimate in versatility, these shoes transition flawlessly from a day at the office to a night on the town. Though I adore the zipper and tassels, the practical side of me loves the memory foam padded insole, usually unheard of in fashionable high heels. I cannot wait to add this pair to my wardrobe. The only problem I’ll have is [... more]

Polo Perfection

There is something timeless and fun about the polo shirt. It can be worn dressy or casual, and transitions well from work to play. Another plus: The polo comes in many colors and patterns to suit your many moods. KP MacLane, my favorite polo company, uses soft European cotton to make their oh-so-comfy shirts. For one more touch of luxury, the Georgia-based brand delivers each in a beautiful, drawstring linen bag.
