A First For Everything

This spring, Tory Burch released her first fragrance, aptly named (drum roll, please) First Fragrance. Both playful and polished, feminine and tomboyish, the scent carries on the designer’s classic Americana-esque aesthetic. The most enjoyable aspect of the combination of notes of grapefruit, peony, jasmine, and sandalwood is that at first it appears fresh and vibrant, but then settles into a sensual warmth. The versatile nature of this scent allows for an easy transition from day to night, and for any occasion. Plus, the glass bottle is absolutely [... more]

Loads to Tote

Women are eternally searching for the perfect leather tote, one that’s big enough to hold their entire lives, yet small enough to easily manage. Well ladies, look no further than the Horween Leather Tote by Annie Williams. The Nashville, Tennessee-based singer-turned-designer follows a minimalist design principle by putting a heavy emphasis on the functionality and natural beauty of the hides. This particular tote sports a beautiful rustic, marble-like finish and comes with either an open top or a zipper closure. Providing the size and sturdiness you need, [... more]

Pump It Up

Warm weather means bringing out those adorable sandals, wedges, and peep-toes that have been occupying the back of your closet for the last several months. However, at some work places, open-toed, warm-weather favorites won’t make the office dress code. Don’t worry; you won’t be stuck wearing the same old black pumps you’ve trudged through the winter streets in. There’s plenty of spring-worthy footwear that’s also appropriate for work. Take these J. Crew Sloane Cap Toe Pumps, for example. This traditional heel takes a modern turn with the [... more]

Portable Perfume

A woman’s handbag beauty essentials typically include lipstick, a hairbrush, face powder, and basically anything else she needs to feel fresh and beautiful throughout the day. But what about perfume? Most fragrances come packaged in fragile glass and easily uncapped bottles, making them extremely hard to tote in a bag. Thankfully, more and more brands are packaging their perfumes in solid forms ideal for those of us on the go. TOCCA’s Bianca Solid Perfume presents the perfect travel-size fragrance in a super adorable and elegant, gold-patterned jar [... more]

Knuckle Punch

There are few accessories more refined than an elegant evening clutch. With its luxurious fabric and satisfying click of the closure, a clutch recalls the past but remains useful in the present. After all, where else would you put your lipstick during formal affairs? A statement accessory all its own, Alexander McQueen’s petite Butterfly Stone Knucklebox Clutch ($2,395) in black satin features dazzling amber-colored crystal stones and dainty golden metal butterflies, lending a touch of whimsy to your black-tie attire. The visually interesting and extraordinarily practical addition [... more]

Strapped In Style

You’ve been there: You’re out on the river either angling a smallmouth or whipping your cousin in the inner tube. As you glance over the side of the boat, you watch in dismay as your sunglasses fall and sink into murky waters. It’s a painful experience, especially knowing this all could have been prevented if you’d only worn a sunglass strap. Cotton Snaps brings a bit of style to a utilitarian piece of gear with lots of variety. You’ll find plaids, ginghams, and seersucker straps in every [... more]

Her jewelry line features high-quality and oh so fashionable baubles, from chandelier earrings to bib necklaces. You can shop in Kendra Scott Stores throughout Texas or at Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, and Neiman Marcus, but I prefer the Kendra Scott Web site. It features a Color Bar option that allows you to customize her designs with the exact stones and colors you want for that one-of- a-kind piece. Mix and match—and don’t [... more]

Vintage Intimacy

Owning one set, or several sets, of beautiful lingerie is a luxury not every woman can afford due to the exorbitant prices of most well-made undergarments. Lucky for us, Anthropologie’s collection of intimates comprises not only wonderful vintage pieces but also surprisingly affordable ones. From soft and sweet pastel satin bras to tastefully risqué black lace rompers, Anthropologie offers just about any type of lingerie you could want, and nearly all with designs reminiscent of the 1940s.  We love the delicate, vintage-inspired Lecce Set with its balconette [... more]

White Hot

Spring fashion shows featured runways awash in white nail polish. This crisp neutral might not seem sophisticated at first, but the blank canvas lets colorful fabrics pop. Opaque white nails accented the chic designs of Band of Outsiders, Charlotte Ronson, Tibi, Nanette Lepore, and more, adding an unexpected freshness to each ensemble. Incorporate this minimalist look into your daily routine, or try it on for a special occasion with Butter London’s Cotton Buds Nail Lacquer ($15). You may just find yourself addicted for the rest of summer!

The D’Orsay Way

We don’t know about y’all, but we’re obsessed with d’Orsay flats for spring. The interesting two-piece design recalls the simple, elegant looks of Audrey Hepburn and other classic fashion icons. Over the past month or so the d’Orsay style has sprung up all over popular retail venues, but Matt Bernson’s designs deserve serious consideration. We’re swooning over the Mercer in Sand/Cobalt Snake ($176). The pairing of bright cobalt blue and a neutral hue makes it versatile while also adding a pop of color. Choose from four different [... more]

It’s Still Leather Weather

In the day, fashion designers restricted leather to jackets, purses, shoes, and the tight pants synonymous with rock ‘n’ roll legends, so the past couple of seasons we’ve been excited to see this traditional winter material transition into lighter looks. This spring, ditch the heavy dark jackets and boots and incorporate softer colors of leather (even pastels!) into your wardrobe. Feeling unsure about how to wear leather for daytime? Billy Reid’s Sadie Skirt in Apricot ($995) makes it easy to pull off the look thanks to its neutral shade and feminine A–line shape.

Laser-Cut Luxury

With its timeless aesthetic and luxurious quality, leather continues to make a prominent appearance on the runway. Adding a fresh perspective, laser-cutting allows designers to create intricate patterns, even mimicking those found in their fabric collections, with stunningly clean precision. French-Tunisian designer Azzedine Alaia incorporates this unique design feature into several of his 2014 handbags. We especially love this V-shaped leather tote adorned with a stylish pattern that adds interest but doesn’t give away all the secrets hidden inside.
